Pap tests, prenatal care, and menopause support in unhurried appointments.

  • Chronic condition care

Diabetes, blood pressure, and asthma plans reviewed on a regular schedule.

  • Minor procedures

Stitches, mole removal, joint injections, and ear syringing done right in clinic.

Our practice

A neighbourhood practice, not a walk-in line

Harbourview Family Medicine opened on the waterfront in 2011 with a simple idea: care works better when you see the same doctor each visit. Today four physicians and two nurse practitioners look after more than 6,000 patients across our Halifax and Dartmouth clinics, and appointments are still booked long enough to actually talk. Bring your questions; we plan for them.

Patient experiences

What patients tell us

Dr. Kowalski caught something two other clinics had missed, then walked me through every step of the referral. I never felt rushed once.
Elena T. · Google
Booked online on a Monday, seen Wednesday morning. Reception sorted the insurance paperwork before I even asked.
Marcus W. · Google
They have looked after all three of our kids since birth. The nurses know them by name and the visits never feel like a conveyor belt.

Common questions

Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. Both clinics take new patients of all ages, and we can usually offer a first appointment within two weeks. Book online or call reception.
Do you bill MSI and private insurance directly?
We bill MSI directly for insured services. For most private plans we submit the claim for you, so you only pay any remaining balance.
What should I bring to a first visit?
Your health card, a list of current medications, and any records from a previous doctor. If you cannot get the records, we will request them for you.
Can I choose which clinic I visit?
Yes. Your chart is shared securely between our two clinics, so you can book whichever location suits you that week.
What if I need care after hours?
Call the clinic line for the on-call recording. For emergencies, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
